Reviewer: Anarky @ 2pacboard.net
Album: Loyal to the Game
Artist: 2pac
So another Pac album is out on the shelves, if you expected the greatness of other albums with this you immediatly relise your mistake quickly into this one.
Afeni Shakur and Eminem are the executive producers, but as you can guess Eminem was the sole producer for the main part of this cd(except for the bonus tracks)
Did it come out well for him?
1.Soldier Like Me(Return Of The Soulja)ft Eminem -This track opens with the first cut and paste job of the cd, 2Pac shouting out '2005' but worse will be later.2Pac's lyrics are good as they mostly always the beat is good enough and fits in on it for most. The hook by Eminem is just annoying and doesnt fit in at all.Even after all that, its one of the better tracks on the cd produced by Eminem, but isnt an indication of later tracks to come.
3/5
2.Uppercut ft Outlawz - One of my favourite eminem produced tracks, the beat is nice and Pac goes well with it at all parts. The outlawz verse(young noble and edi)is coo enough, but still not stand out material. It doesnt bring down the track tho and at the end leaves with a good overall impression
4/5
3.Out On Bail - Starts off with a Pac intro , him talkin and sayin shit and next thing you hear-whoa wow back up there bro-'Drop that shit Em!'- huh?wtf is that?this is a indication of more to come, changing Pacs words to shout out Em who he didnt even know(would he even have liked?) is just plain disrespecful. He has been allowed to produce a retail official 2Pac album and he does shit like this.On the track,it goes pretty coo.Beat is nice and Pac goes well on it and has some nice lyrics, again one fo the better eminem produced ones.
3.5/5
4.Ghetto Gospel ft Elton John - I think this had the potential to be a good track, the beat is nice and Elton John goes well enough on it, but the track is totally fucked up by Eminem changin the speed/pitch of Pacs vocals.During the verses he barley sounds like himself, its high pitched and just is totally messed up.'It aint about black or white cos we human' If you listen to that line at the end of the first verse, its the proper speed of the track, you can notcie the change in voice immediatly, Eminem should've just left the vocals speed the same and the track could've come out good.As it is, it just sounds wrong in the vocals and though the quality of lyrics is good. Its when tracks come out like thsi you wonder why they couldnt have been left in thier og form.
2/5
5. Black Cottom ft Eminem,Kastro,Young Noble - Pretty coo beat on this track, Pacs lyrics on his verse are tight, the hook by eminem is ight...a bit annoying whens he singin the shit.Kastros verse is dissapointing and is followed up by Young Nobles as usual average verse.Listen to the first verse then the rest can be skipped.
3/5
6.Loyal To The Game ft G-Unit - ok first of all, wtf is with puttin G Unit on a Pac track?Wheres the boys he rolled with?G Unit didnt even know him so why put them on the track?o yea so they can brag shit about bein on a track with Pac and gettin more publiciy for them.On the track, dissapointed again that the lyrics are sped up but the beat is pretty coo, Pac fits coo enough onto it.50 on the hook is ight, Bucks verse goes pretty good and Banks verse is ight. Then in at the end too Pac says 'G Unit in this motherfucken house' More cut and paste jobs that make you want to hit whoever thought of it.....
3/5
7.Thugs Get Lonly Too ft Nate Dogg - The beat for this is pretty nice, Pacgoes well on it and as always Nate Dogg delivers the goods on the hook. One of the better tracks, this could've been an idea for a single release instead of Ghetto Gospel
3.5/5
8.NIGGA(Never Ignorant Gettin Goals Accomplished) ft Jadakiss - On the track, the beat is kinda flat just a big deep beat, Pac doesnt fit in on it too good.Jada has a coo enough verse but doesnt really fit in either.
2.5/5
9.Who Do You Love - aight track, nothing standing out here.Beat is ok and Pac just does his thing as usual.
2/5
10.Crooked Nigga Too - Opens up with pac talkin, then goes into rappin and your like WTF!?Eminem has sped up Pacs voice a LOT and you can notice it straight away, its obviosly sped up to get it on with the beat but coudlnt they have just done it with a different one?Beat isnt the best and Pac kinda half fits on it but overall dissapointing
1.5/5
11.Dont You Trust Me ft Dido - Opens well, Dido goes well with the track and the beat is nice.Pac comes in and the track keeps up its previous impression, good. One of the best Eminem produced tracks.
4/5
12.Hennesy ft Obie Trice - Another cut and paste job with 'a big ballin ass nigga named trice'...fucks up the track even more than it already is....I mean can you imagine Pac spittin onto this if he was alive?HELL NO if Iwanted a beat like this Iwould've gone to the local carnival or shit..in trices verse he talks to Pac like he knew him and they were homies, which they sure as hell werent, and at the end he even boasts ' hey im on a track with pac' o yea great you got mixed in with him, and at the end he talks to pac as if he was right there with him.....probably the worst track
1/5
13. Thug 4 Life - Pacs lyrics are good, but the beat is just bad.Its like a saudi arabian beat or something, doesnt go with Pac at all, and isnt 'thuggish' at all
2/5
Now this is where the real producers and experienced ones come in, I hear you say 'at last'
14- Po Nigga Blues(Scott Storch Mix) -This is a really really tight track.Storch puts Pac on a perfect beat and it you can actually picture this being a track pac would've liked. The beat is real tight and Pac lyrics are tight too, hook is nice and Ron Isly's vocals in the background add to a really dope track
5/5
15.Hennesy ft EDI & Sleepy Brown(Red Spyda Mix) - The shit just keeps comin on the bonus tracks, real nice. The beat here is tightand pac fits in real with it, another track you feel pac would've been proud of. EDI comes in with a ight verse, nothign special but doesnt bring the track down and he flows well with the beat.Sleepy helps in the background too.
4.5/5
16.Crooked Nigga Too(Raphael Saadiq Mix) - Now this is the speed the vocals for this are supposed to be like, compare this to the Eminem version. The beat is nice, Pac flows perfectly with it and the track is NICE, its around this point when you remember Eminems version you think why the fuck didnt they get producers like this for the whole cd?Again, a real tight track and the hook is nice too
5/5
17. Loyal To The Game ft Big Syke(DJ Quik Mix) - This a nice track too, the beat is something you think pac would've spit on in his time, and it goes well with the lyrics.Simple beat but works well.Syke(yes someone Pac actually knew -bar the outlawz- spits on a track) comes and drops a pretty coo verse that goes with the track.Quik also find time to get in on the action and gives a good enough performance.
4/5
Overall, its a dissapointing enough cd(for the main part of it)Most Pac albums you can go through every single song bumping to it, but Eminem has come and totally messed up a few tracks. Its disapointing to see that Afeni went for an unproved producer more than likly because he was a big rap name and to get more money. The cuttin and pasting of Pacs words shows little respect and putting G Unit on the cd is little more than a publicity stunt for them, and to give them braggin rights. As Jada put it in a diss to 50 cent 'we were on real tracks with Pac, no made up shit'. obie trice is obviously in over his head on a track with Pac, and this doesnt do much to help his rap career. The bonus tracks are what really saves and makes up this cd, from top notch proved producers they provide you with at least 4 top class tracks worthy to have Pac on them.It just makes you wonder why did Afeni give it to Eminem instead of proved producers like Quick,Storch,Red Spyda and Raphael Saadiq?Maybe she thought he would do a better job, or thinks he has done a good job, but given that Eminem said he was so thrilled to be producing a Pac cd, why did he cut up his words, put people he never knew on his tracks, and most importantly, spend only 3 days on it?If he was as 'thrilled' as he madee out to be, I really think he would've spent more than 3days on producing an international cd.People are amazed how Pac did a classic album in 7 days, but I doubt they'll be gazing at this thankin Eminem for spending his time on it for 3 days.I'd say he had more important things on his mind at the time, ie his own album.I've averaged out the scores and it works out at 3, but it would be much lower without the bonus tracks, which are really the centre peice for me in this album.Without these I would've rated around 1.5/2, but with them they lift all the other tracks onto their back and carry them, and save the cd from being a complete disaster.Hopefull the next will be something to look forward to, looking back at what can be done by picking the wrong producers.
